Oil cleansing and its wonders

Written by | Beauty

May it be makeup, or not, our pores get congested with dirt, oils and dead skin everyday. Some of you might now the effects of this process, which can include acne, irritation and an unpleasant sensation at the level of the epidermis. Moreover, this process has been discovered to fast ageing at the tissue-level, leading to an overall less youthful look in ones face, over time.

Cleansing your skin at the end of the day is a must for not only having a better appearance on long term, but to also maintaining the health of your skin and precious organs like eyes and mouth, as you can easily touch a dirty part of your face and then touch your eyes or mouth and spread dangerous bacteria in these areas. Therefore, whatever your goals may be, cleansing is a fundamental process that must fully establish itself in one’s night time routine. However, if you know from experience, it can be quite nasty and harming, if done inappropriately .

I was oftentimes facing dryness and irritation in my skin after cleansing nd was trying to counterbalance this issue with using a richer moisturiser, however I was creating more harm than good, leading to acne eruptions on my face. After consulting multiple dermatologists, I was sure I wasn’t going to find a solution to this problem, until I tried a more gentle, and efficient way of cleansing- oil cleansing.

I have been oil-cleansing every evening now for over one and a half years and one thing is for sure- my skin has never been more even-looking and imperfection-free. What is this oil cleansing, you may ask?

Oil cleansing is basically using oil (coconut or other non-comedogenic oils) as a first step in your cleansing process, in. order to dissolve the dirt and melt the layers of dead skin, which are then all washed away with water and a very light cleanser. This method ensures that your skin is not bombarded with harsh, drying chemicals, like salicylic acid, all the time; although these are very beneficial, these can do more harm than good if overused. The entire process is very simple, doesn’t involve a longer face-washing process and ensures that the necessary moisture and PH balance will still be present in your skin afterwards, so that your skin will be less irritated after just a couple of days!

Sounds good? Well here are my recommendations of oil cleansers that I have tested over time and can swear by!

Love, L.C.
